So much to see and hear at the recent Sapphire show. I kept my focus on Business Intelligence, and more specifically, BI OnDemand or SaaS BI. I would characterize my discussions at this year’s event as much more focused on how I can deploy SaaS BI, not what is SaaS BI (much of last year’s discussion). Many companyies were trying to answer three key questions:

When should I use SaaS BI as opposed to an on premise BI solution?

What role does my team play once SaaS BI is deployed?

How do I get started and where should we deploy it in my company?

Forrester analyst Boris Evelson provides his view on these questions in a webinar the can be viewed here [link to recorded webinar]

We are seeing some of the most ardent champions of SaaS BI among CIOs experienced with traditional BI approaches. These CIOs know both the benefits of BI, and the challenges of getting it in place. They want BI in, they want it in fast, they don’t want to pay much, and they want to be sure it’s going to meet their business’ needs. No surprises here, just a lot more increased interest.
